Paul Revere Academy: Revolutionizing High School Education in Arizona

In the ever-evolving landscape of American education, innovation and purpose-driven change often serve as catalysts for meaningful transformation. In this article we will explore Paul Revere Academy in Mesa Arizona. Specifically, we will discuss how their partnership with the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) has created a truly unique school experience for Arizona high school students.

The Vision Behind Paul Revere Academy

Born out of a collaboration with the East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT), known as the gold standard in high school career technical education, Paul Revere Academy brings a revolutionary approach to education. EVIT, although renowned for its impressive career technical education (CTE), couldn’t issue high school diplomas. To bridge this gap, they envisioned a high-quality high school that would help them combine the best of both worlds - high quality academics and high-quality technical education.

The objective? To provide students with a future they can be proud of. The school focuses on fostering independence, confidence, and capability in its students. And with a particular emphasis on assisting youth in foster care, Paul Revere Academy promises to be a much-needed beacon of educational opportunity in Mesa Arizona.

The school takes its name from the famous American patriot, Paul Revere, a nod to the school’s focus on American history and the trades. Revere, a silversmith by profession, represents the ideal fusion of academic knowledge and technical skills. The name also symbolizes a reverence for education and the urgency of its mission, just as Paul Revere’s famous ride signified a critical moment in American history.

Unpacking the Benefits

Paul Revere Academy offers a multitude of benefits that extend far beyond a typical high school educational experience. From credit recovery, dual enrollment options and sports opportunities, the school aims to provide students with a well-rounded experience.

Additionally, the school provides transportation assistance. The school noticed one of the biggest obstacles for students to attend EVIT was transportation. Students would often have to drive back and forth multiple times per day switching between their high school classes and their classes at EVIT. This transportation issue was a big drawback for students who didn’t have cars or who’s parents weren’t able to provide them with transportation. Recognizing this, Paul Revere Academy has secured grants to ensure students can get to and from campus easily thus eliminating a barrier to entry that was affecting many potential students.

Beyond the tangible benefits, the school provides students with trauma-informed staff ensuring the emotional needs of their students are met. While one of the main focuses of the school is academic and professional achievement, the school also prioritizes the character development of their students. With the help of a dedicated and informed staff, the school is able to help their students grow their character and become emotionally strong individuals.

An Inside Look at the Student Experience

The school day at Paul Revere academy is designed for efficiency and ease. Classes start at 8:00 AM and end at 2:35 PM, with additional tutoring and sports programs available beyond these hours. Students attend three class periods at EVIT either in the morning or afternoon, and attend three class periods at Paul Revere. Because of the proximity of the campuses, students are able to easily transition between the two campuses without issue.

Class sizes at Paul Revere Academy are also a perk. With smaller class sizes, students are able to develop a close-knit relationship with their teachers and classmates while also receiving a more targeted education and more one-on-one time with their teacher than can be afforded at bigger schools.
